Why Vietnam is the sharpest case for AI live selling

Vietnam runs live commerce at a scale and a cadence that most Western markets still discuss in the future tense. Sellers stream daily, buyers expect to be answered in the comments, and the marginal cost of a host is the constraint on how many hours a channel can be live.

That last point is the whole argument. A Vietnamese seller does not need to be convinced that livestream selling works, because they already know: they are doing it. What they run out of is hosts, shifts and the will to stream at 2am. Eighteen hours a day of a dark channel is the problem an AI host is actually solving here.

What the platforms allow

This is the part most vendors selling into Vietnam do not put in writing.

Shopee permits AI livestreams for approved sellers only. You submit an application, wait for the decision, and may not run an AI livestream before approval lands. Once approved, six content rules apply, including a label on the stream, one AI host per account, and no pre-recorded video played as live. Full detail: Shopee.
TikTok Shop published a rule in 2026 prohibiting AI-generated voices in promotional LIVEs. That document states its own scope as the United States, and we have found no equivalent published rule for TikTok Shop Vietnam. We are not going to infer from that silence that Vietnam permits it, so check your own market's Seller Academy and treat any vendor who tells you confidently either way as making a claim they have not shown you. Where an AI host earns its hours here

The overnight and early-morning slots nobody wants to staff, on a catalogue that is already live during the day.
Multi-channel simultaneity: one session to Shopee, Facebook, TikTok and Lazada at once, each with its own comment thread, rather than choosing which channel gets the good hour.

What we would tell a Vietnamese seller to do first

Apply to Shopee for AI livestream approval before anything else. It is the destination with a clear, documented yes, and the approval takes as long as it takes.
Keep a human in the loop on TikTok Shop until you have your own written answer on that platform's position in your market. Genpio sessions can be operator-driven, which means designed, scripted, started, adjusted mid-stream and stopped by a person.
Start with the hours you currently do not stream at all. The clearest measurement of whether this works is revenue in a slot that previously produced none, and it does not require you to change anything that already works.
