Product & Motion Designer
Be the whole design function. Own the product from flow to pixel, hold the design system together, and cut the motion and video work that makes AI avatars…
Design · Remote · Full-time
About the role
We're hiring a Product & Motion Designer to be the design function at Genpio. Not a designer on the design team: the design team. You'll own product design end to end, own the design system, own the brand, and still cut the motion and video work that makes an AI avatar stop someone's thumb in a TikTok feed.
This is a rare combination and we know it. Most people are product or motion, not both. We need both, because the product is inherently visual: people come to Genpio to make an avatar that goes live and sells, and every part of that, from the onboarding flow to the launch video, is a design problem. There is no design manager, no researcher, and no separate motion team to hand off to. You set the bar, you defend it, and you ship.
What you'll do
Product design
- Own flows end to end: research, information architecture, wireframes, high-fidelity UI in Figma, and prototypes
- Design the unglamorous parts properly: empty, loading, error, and edge states in a product where a stream can drop at 3am
- Talk to creators, KOLs, and studios directly, then make the call, because nobody is going to make it for you
Design system
- Own and maintain the system: tokens, components, variants, and the rules for when not to use them
- Work close enough to the React codebase that your handoff is real, not a pile of frames
- Keep the system honest as the product grows, and kill components that stopped earning their place
Motion and video
- Animate UI, explainers, and product sequences that make a complex product feel obvious
- Cut product demos, launch films, and social-first vertical edits: pacing, captions, sound, color
- Build reusable motion templates and a motion style guide so quality survives volume
Brand
- Push the visual language forward: type, color, layout, illustration, and how the brand moves
- Partner with marketing on launches, campaigns, and ad creative that actually converts
- Keep everything recognizably Genpio across product, web, and feed
What we're looking for
Must have
- 5+ years across product design and motion, with a portfolio that proves both, not one plus a hobby
- Senior product craft: flows, IA, states, and real usability judgment on complex tools
- Owned a design system in production, including tokens, components, and handoff to engineers
- Expert in Figma, strong in After Effects and a video editor (Premiere, DaVinci, or CapCut)
- Comfortable with accessibility and contrast as a requirement, not a cleanup task
- Able to take a vague brief and run it end to end, alone, on a deadline
Nice to have
- Experience designing for creators, live commerce, or social video products
- Can write and read enough React and CSS to speak engineering's language
- 3D motion (Blender, Cinema 4D), illustration, or AI creative tooling
- Sound design and color grading
Tools you'll use
Figma, After Effects, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, Illustrator, optionally Blender or Cinema 4D, Frame.io, Notion, Slack, and enough of the React codebase to keep the system true.
Interview process
- 30-min intro plus portfolio walkthrough, product work and motion work
- Craft conversation: one product flow you shipped, and one piece you animated, in depth
- Paid take-home: a real Genpio problem, designed and moved, scoped to a few hours
- Review plus team fit with Engineering, Marketing, and the founders
- Offer
Compensation and benefits
- 100% remote, flexible hours, async-friendly
- Senior-level base plus performance bonus
- Meaningful equity in a fast-growing AI company
- Top-tier hardware and a full creative software stack
- Annual team offsite, learning budget, and modern tooling stipend

Why Genpio
You will own how an entire category looks, feels, and moves, with a product that is visual by nature and a brand still being shaped. Nothing here goes through a committee. The team is small, the ceiling is high, and your work is in front of real audiences the week you make it.
